Wisdom and Encouragement – Part 2

God has not promised skies always blue,
flower-strewn pathways all our lives through;
God has not promised sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow, peace without pain.

But God has promised strength for the day,
rest for the labor, light for the way,
Grace for the trials, help from above,
unfailing sympathy, undying love.

Don't know if you're familiar with the old hyms but this one came to mind as I read your post:

Standing On The Promises

Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.
Refrain:
Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
List’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call,
Resting in my Savior as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God

You are so right about everything he doesn't promise us. I'm so glad that He promises life everylasting. I so look forward to reuniting with loved ones and never worrying about death or pain. It is hard to grasp that it will be eternally! We are so blessed! I thank God for the blessing of our friendship.

These words are true and beautiful...
but you and Jeff are inspirational in the faithful acceptance of whatever comes from God's hands into your lives.
I'm praying for your lives to be suffused and sustained by grace and mercy.
